Identity
Identity captures the foundational facts about a venue: name, type, location, and a verifiable identifier that proves ownership.
What identity contains
The basics: legal name, trading name, venue type (hotel, restaurant, bar), address, and web presence. Plus a Decentralised Identifier (DID) that the venue controls.
A DID is a globally unique identifier based on a domain the venue owns. Unlike platform-specific IDs, it belongs to the venue rather than to any particular system, and can be cryptographically verified.
Why identity matters
Everything else in an Echo builds on identity. Vibe claims, evidence, and credentials all anchor back to a verified identity. Without it, there's no foundation for trust.
What agents can do with identity
Agents can verify that a venue is real before recommending it, and trace any claim back to a confirmed source. This prevents impersonation and ensures recommendations point to genuine venues.
