# The surfaces where agents choose and buy.

> Customers increasingly begin in places that help them research, compare and progress a purchase. The durable task is to make a business understandable and actionable across those surfaces without rebuilding everything for each one.

## In short

- The customer need stays the same even when the starting surface changes.
- Discovery, decision information and transaction progress should not depend on a single interface.
- Standards are useful when they improve the hand-off between systems.

A customer may begin with a search result, an assistant, a marketplace, a recommendation or a business's own site. The starting surface can change, but the underlying job remains familiar: understand the need, compare credible options and take the next safe step.

## The journey no longer has one front door

A customer may begin with a search result, an assistant, a marketplace, a recommendation or a business's own site. The starting surface can change, but the underlying job remains familiar: understand the need, compare credible options and take the next safe step.

For a business, the aim is not to chase every new interface. It is to keep the underlying offer, terms and route to action clear enough to travel.

## Separate the surface from the source of truth

An interface can explain or collect a request, but it should not become the only place the business knows what it offers. Availability, price, policy and fulfilment need clear owners. That lets different surfaces ask the same business a consistent question.

It also makes change easier. A new channel becomes a connection task rather than a complete rebuild of the commercial journey.

## Standards earn their place at the hand-off

Technical standards are valuable when they make it easier for systems to identify a capability, request the right information or pass a customer context onward. They are not proof of commercial readiness by themselves.

Judge them against the customer route. Do they reduce repeated entry, ambiguity or custom integration work? Do they preserve permission and accountability at the point of action?

## Build for the next useful question

The durable design is a business that can answer the next sensible question wherever it is asked, then move the customer to the next permitted step. That keeps the focus on commerce rather than on any one agent, platform or protocol.

- [Discover venues](https://selfe.ai/api/registry/discover) — `POST`, semantic browse across the registry.
- [Match a bookable answer](https://selfe.ai/api/registry/match) — `POST` with dates and party size.
